at home and beyond...
PARTNERS AT HOME
Genesee Valley Habitat for Humanity reports
that they will start constructing their thirteenth
project, a new house on the corner of Pine and Clark
streets in Wellsville. Alfred Tech has already built
a storage shed for the site and is currently in the
process of building the foundation for the house.
Also, news has been received that the annual Yale
bike across America will not take place this year.
That means that we will not be hosting the team as
in many years past. Our affiliate expresses its
“heartfelt thanks” for the hospitality Houghton
College and the church have shown the Yale team in
the past. Our affiliate will participate in the
Alfred Century Ride sometime in September, exact
date not yet determined. This is a 100 mile bike
trip from Almond to Olean and back. Our local bikers
can do this one and raise funds for our local
Habitat if they wish.
PARTNERS BEYOND
Following a request by SIM, Anthony &
Nancy Petrillo started a new organization called
TEN3. The Transformational Education Network,
Discipling to the Third Generation, works to
establish Christian colleges in Africa. They now
have requests from churches in 23 African and 2
Caribbean countries to help develop their
educational plans. Prayer requests include financial
support for their growing team, more missionaries,
and funds to head a conference in Burkina Faso in
which Nancy, Anthony and Anthony III will be
speaking and teaching English. Local members of the
TEN3 team include Tracy Taylor, Jim & Karen
Szymanski, Joe & Linda Gallop, Scott & Jennifer
Frazier and Rob & Wendy Jacobson. The first
newsletter for this new organization may be
downloaded by clicking “Transformations” at
www.TEN3.org.
FABRIC DONATIONS
FOR HAITI
Dear Friends in Christ,
The Ladies of Haiti would be grateful to their
sisters in the U.S. for ANY donations of unwanted
fabric and sewing notions to be used to make
clothing and “kwilts.” Items received will be sent
to Florida and then on to Haiti where they will go
to COMENAH for distribution in the Macieux area. The
need is great - please help. Call Marilyn Main
(567-4554) for pick-up or leave at the church
office. Thank you. Web:

Our
church has the privilege in sharing in a wide
variety of ministries, all with one Mission- to
share the love of Christ with those who do not yet
know it.
Houghton
Church is a mission-centered congregation. Members
of our church family serve around the world and also
in a wide variety of home missions. Several
missionaries and people of international experience
worship here. Almost one-fifth of our church budget
goes for some kind of missions, at home and beyond.
Some local ministries
include Allegany Hope Mentoring, the Fillmore Youth
Center, Habitat for Humanity, Food Pantry, Meals on
Wheels, Jail Ministry, Senior Citizen Nutrition
Trip, Royal Family Kids’ Camp, Houghton College STEP
and Athletic Outreach, CompassCare Pregnancy
Services, Hephzibah Children’s Home, Rochester Youth
Association, Southern Tier Youth For Christ, and
Wesleyan Native American Ministries. We support
several Short-term missionaries and fifteen families
in mission work with Wesleyan World Missions,
