Free Tax Preparation for 2011 Returns
sponsored by Houghton College in cooperation with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Tax services for Federal and NYS tax returns for taxpayers of low to moderate income (generally income of $49,000 or less).
Available Mondays, February 6 through March 26 from 6:00-8:00 PM (except 2/27) and Saturday, March 10, from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM at Houghton College, Library Room 303. Make an appointment by emailing Philip.Christensen12@houghton.edu or by calling the HC Public Events at (585) 567-9210 Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM-3:30 PM.
Krispy Kreme Fundraiser
The Houghton College volleyball team is doing a fundraiser for their sports ministry trip to Nicaragua over Easter Break. They will be selling Krispy Kreme donuts on February 20th, 9am pick up in the campus center. You can preorder through Nancy Cole. The cost for a box of a dozen is $7.00. Please contact nancy.cole@houghton.edu if you are interested. Theywill also sell individual donuts on that day.
Caregivers’ Support Group
Tuesday, February 21, 7:00-8:30 PM, Room 9 under the sanctuary. Welcome to ANYONE who is a caregiver. This group will offer a Spiritual and Educational component as well as providing the opportunity for support. CAREGIVERS meets on the third Tuesday of every month.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 10, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 North Genesee Street in Fillmore NY. The memorial service for Bonnie will be held Saturday, February 11 at noon at the Houghton Wesleyan Church, 9712 Route 19, Houghton, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012) at 11 a.m. in the Houghton Wesleyan Church. Floyd Merriam of Houghton will officiate and burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Dalton.

Phil Brooks’ mother Ruth A. Brooks died Sunday (Nov. 27, 2011) at the Absolut at Houghton nursing home. Visitation will take place on Friday at Kopler Williams Funeral Home in Fillmore from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place at Rushford Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Saturday. Levi Benjamin Kitchen was born January 17 at 9:30 A.M. to parents Ben and Shannon and siblingLyndsay. Levi weighed 7 pounds and 12 ounces at birth and was 20 1/2 inches long and had lots of hair!
Congratulations, too, go to grandparents Ken and Barb Bates.Ezra Gustave Schilke was born January 24 to parents Stephan and Jan and siblings Anna, Tess, Micah,Lydia, Eben, and Claire. Ezra weighed 7 lb. 13 1/2 oz. at birth and was 21 inches long.
Drayke Elliott was born Saturday, December 3, to parents Drew and Heather Hannan and sister Pyper. He weighed 7 lbs. and 13 1/2 ounces. He is 20 inches long.
Nicholas Johan Hegeman was born at 4:31am December 7 to Martin and Sheri Hegeman; he’s 8lbs 4oz, 20 inches long.
Grayson Michael Cox was born to Mike and Amanda Cox at 8:05am on Tuesday, Oct. 25. 7lbs 12 ox, 20 1/2 inches.
Congratulations to Chris and Rachel Wells and sibling Iris at the birth of Soren Lyle on October 17 at Olean General Hospital. Soren weighed 7 lb. 9 1/2 oz.
Jeff and Sarah Kirksey’s twins were born October 11: Everett Steven Kirksey 6lbs6oz 2:52 AM and Titus Jeffrey Kirksey 5lbs13oz 3:05 AM. All are doing well.
